AI thinks, humans steer - why real intelligence always remains in a loop
An exclusive preview of the new presentation by Bernd Fritzges, founder of MICE DESK
Welcome to the Monkey Farm, or: How Bernd Fritzges orchestrates his digital monkeys
Anyone who thinks that a horde of monkeys is running uncontrollably through the digital jungle at MICE DESK is only half wrong. Because the monkeys really do exist. Only they're not sitting in a tree, but in the cloud.
Our CEO Bernd affectionately calls them his "digital helpers". These are automated software agents that carry out structured, recurring tasks around the clock. No chaos, no screeching, but a precisely orchestrated team of small digital primates that sorts requests, reads data and speeds up processes. Welcome to the monkey farm.
On August 12, 2025, Bernd will provide exclusive insights into this way of working for the first time at a closed event in Leipzig and show why humans are not being replaced, but rather enhanced. The central narrative: human-driven AI. AI thinks - humans steer.
What's behind it all? The tech monkeys at a glance:
RPA (Robotic Process Automation) - The busiest monkeys in the enclosure: they complete repetitive, rule-based tasks faster than any human hand.
LLM (Large Language Model) - The smart bonobo with a feel for language: understands, interprets and generates content at a natural language level.
LAM (Large Action Model) - The gorilla with muscles and a plan: Executes complex actions in software environments based on previous logic and objectives.
These three types work hand in hand, guided and controlled by a central control system: a so-called Agentic AI, which prioritizes tasks, forwards them or - if necessary - hands them over to real people.
And this is where it gets exciting: people are not out of it, but right in the middle of it.
Why human-in-the-loop systems are the future
Human-in-the-loop (HITL) means that decisions are not blindly left to the machine. Instead, the human checks, provides context, sets limits and thus becomes the central quality authority in the digital process.
Or as Bernd puts it:
"You can't automate judgment - but you can loop it in."
Sounds good? It is. And it works.
According to McKinsey (2024), such hybrid systems reduce the error rate in document-centric processes by up to 60 %. Deloitte reports 22-27% lower operating costs and 11% more revenue when humans and AI work together. And the MIT Sloan School (2023) found that employees who work with well-structured automation are significantly more satisfied and remain loyal to their company for longer.
MICE DESK live test: The monkeys take over, but humans remain the boss
In the hotel industry, time is money. Nevertheless, according to an internal study (2024), an average of 2:43 hours e lapses between inquiry and contract. With our new system, the processing time is less than 30 minutes.
How does that work?
Digital monkeys (RPA) read requests automatically.
The LLM understands what is required and formulates initial answers.
The LAM fills in systems, updates forecasts or initiates follow-up actions.
Humans are only called in when things get tricky, for example when it comes to price decisions or special requests.
Result: Up to 15× faster quotation processes, +36 % quotation conversion, -80 % queries.
And the most important thing: no system breaks, no additional tool confusion. Everything happens seamlessly, orchestrated via the specially developed "Rocket 2.0" system.
Conclusion: the human being remains the captain, even in the digital jungle
For many, "digitalization" sounds like an empty buzzword cage. But if it is thought through correctly - with end-to-end processes, without system breaks and with people as conductors - then real intelligence is created.
With our Monkey Farm, we show what this approach looks like in practice. Not a one-man show, not a tool graveyard. It's a sophisticated interplay of automation, language models and human judgment.
Or in Bernd's words:
"I'm not the one who gets replaced. I'm the one who decides when the monkeys take a break."
